Tweet? O_o

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

I decided to follow the masses and signed up to Twitter. At first, I wondered how people would find the time to tweet all the time. It asks only one question, What are you doing? The good thing about this is, unlike for example Windows Live Messenger, you can drop a quick note about your activities for people to see and comment on. It’s the world of micro-blogging, and at the same time it’s also a good way to communicate with other people if you want to leave them a quick note.

Other people can see your banter if they “follow” you and you can also follow other people to see their updates. The best thing is to not constantly be leaving messages; the whole idea is a quick post and then to carry on with whatever it is you are doing. Apart from the web based Twitter, there are many Twitter clients so you can tweet on the move. The ones I use are:

For my phone I use Twobile, since my HTC Touch HD is on the Windows Mobile platform. For my main PC and my HTC Shift, I use OutTwit since I have Outlook open all the time. Both are quite good and easy to use.

The more I used Twitter, the more I found other interesting people. You can follow pretty much anyone, if you are concerned about privacy you can block people if you wish. But the whole idea of Twitter is to have an open forum for communication, and tweeting while I was on the train was pretty cool.

If you want to follow my antics, I am on there as Motoko_K. I may make the odd rant or two now and then, so I will apologise now in advance.

Happy Tweeting!

*Footnote – As I was writing this post, I got a new tweet from the devs for Twobile. There was a change in functionality for Twitter which caused Twobile to crash. Make sure you download the right version, as outlined in their blog post. I tried it earlier and it seems to work fine.
