Let it snow, let it snow…
I looked at the weather forecast yesterday for this week, it’s going to snow with -2C temperatures. The planning I made last night could not have prepared me for what was in store this morning. After spending 15 minutes sweeping down the car, I was just about to pull out when a car breaks downs in front of my driveway. Fantastic. 2 hours later waiting for the RAC to turn up with the tow truck, and I was off. Or so I thought…
The problem with BMWs is that they are all rear wheel drive. I’ve only had mine for about 2 months and this is my first rear wheel motor, so I knew there was going to be some fun in store. Unfortunately I didn’t get very far, with the wheels spinning and the car still stationary. Traction control really doesn’t help at this point since there is a rev limiter in place which prevents me from breaking free.
40 minutes later, I approach the car park at work. My god the whole place was just slush city and yes, I ran into the same problem. You step on the accelerator and the back end swings out, opposite lock it is then. Rinse repeat, still not going anywhere. Of course, being the damsel in distress does have it’s benefits and the cavalry arrived in the form of the building Facilities staff. Switch traction control off and off I go sliding my way up the car park Tokyo Drift style, with the guys guiding me up the slope. Phew, looking back it was kinda fun but hair raising at the same time. Any way, I am home now as they let us finish work early, which is quite convenient since a server decided to keel over and commit suicide. Perfect timing to walk away from that little hiccup and to revisit tomorrow. That is, if I can make it in one piece tomorrow. Looks like the blizzard from hell is fast approaching our little town.
I took a picture with my phone, this was taken from my computer room upstairs (also the place where I write all my blog entries no less). It looked much much worse than it does now, since some of the snow has melted away. Still, very picturesque.
